Kirkcaldy is a town and former royal burgh located in Fife, on Scotland's east coast. It lies approximately 11.5 miles (19 kilometers) north of Edinburgh and 27.5 miles (44 kilometers) south-southwest of Dundee. As of 2011, the town had a recorded population of 49,460, making it Fife's second-largest settlement and the 11th most populous in Scotland. Kirkcaldy is famously known as the Lang Toun, which means "long town" in Scots, referring to its historically lengthy main street that spans 0.9 miles (1.4 km) and has evolved to nearly four miles (six kilometers), connecting it to nearby areas including Linktown, Pathhead, Sinclairtown, and Gallatown, all of which were incorporated into the town in 1876. The former burgh of Dysart also became part of Kirkcaldy in 1930 through an Act of Parliament.
In the painting and decorating industry good preparation is imperative. This can not be emphasised enough when attempting to get the best results on a project. Any tradespeople who avoid this important stage in the process are clearly in the wrong profession. Inexperienced painters and decorators can often overlook important things such as knotting or sealing walls before lining them. This means that they will never get a long lasting finish and good quality job that lots of knowledge and experience can bring.
