Dunkeld is a picturesque town located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, nestled on the north bank of the River Tay, directly across from Birnam. Known for its historic cathedral, Dunkeld is situated near the Highland Boundary Fault and is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Highlands" due to its strategic location along the main road and rail routes north. The town is served by the Dunkeld & Birnam railway station on the Highland Main Line and lies approximately 25 kilometres (15 miles) north of Perth, accessible via the A9 road. Though the main road previously traversed through Dunkeld, modern improvements have rerouted it to the west of the town. Dunkeld Cathedral stands as a striking monument, showcasing the well-preserved architecture characteristic of a Scottish burgh from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. The Hermitage, located on the western side of the A9, is another notable property managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Over the years, several bridges have connected Dunkeld with Birnam, with the current bridge, designed by Thomas Telford and funded by the 4th Duke of Atholl, completed in 1809.
In the painting and decorating industry good preparation is imperative. This can not be emphasised enough when attempting to get the best results on a project. Any tradespeople who avoid this important stage in the process are clearly in the wrong profession. Inexperienced painters and decorators can often overlook important things such as knotting or sealing walls before lining them. This means that they will never get a long lasting finish and good quality job that lots of knowledge and experience can bring.
