Aberlady is a conservation village of painted and harled cottages around its bay and nature reserve; Longniddry is a leafy coastal village of inter-war and post-war villas on the rail line into Edinburgh. Both are well-kept, both face the coast, and both expect a proper finish.

Aberlady and Longniddry are the quieter, leafier villages of the East Lothian shore, between the bustle of Musselburgh and the golf coast at Gullane. Aberlady, ranged around its bay and nature reserve, is a conservation village of painted cottages; Longniddry is a well-kept coastal village on the Edinburgh rail line. Both are affluent, both face the coast, and both want work that lasts.
